"Health Ray" Carbon Arc

Just got this from the UK. No papers or anything else. Tested it using 120 volts and I couldn't sustain an arc. But using 240 volts (like on this video) it's quite fun. Carbons are cored. Not too bright and I could see the arc very violet.

Your video is set to be not accessible from outside Youtube through embedded players, but only inside Youtube. So I can't watch it. You can set it to allow watching the video from outside Youtube, through the embedded players.

It is strange that the arc is yellow and not white in the video. Can you provide the spectrum of this carbon arc lamp?

Remember that this arc lamp produces a lot of UVB and UVC and so dangerous to eyes and skin.

... oooohh... really hope that you had some sort of protection. Haha... actually, this looks dangerous in general!

My video camera was a non-modified Canon body. Because it was overcast and getting dark, I used a very high Kelvin rating. The internal camera filter also cuts out the UV and most of the violet, so yes it appears yellower than in person. I will get the spectrum soon.
