GE M-250R1 175 w Mercury Vapor

This was a Craig's List find it came with a nos 1980 fisher pierce 6660 sls P.C. and a nos Westy Lifeguard DX lamp (5/80) this guy supposedly got this from a friend with his local utility where he lived in Pennsylvania. He said it works perfectly and had it lighting his driveway at his former Pa. house but when he moved to Ohio he brought it with him and never got around to installing it , YEAH RIGHT ! The ballast was visibly cooked and I negotiated the price accordingly.

You mean a Fisher Pierce 6660-SLS? You left a 6 off lol. This model would have a hermetically sealed cadmium sulfide eye. Awesome.

Wow the light looks almost new. Nice it came with an NOS PC and lamp but what a disappointment with the ballast. I don't care for those ballasts anyway. That style GE 120/240V 4-coil "regulator" ballast is very noisy and GE has always had issues with the quality of their capacitors, so any GE ballast containing a capacitor I try my best to avoid.

This also appears to be the wrong glass. Does it have the "V" shaped prism pattern on the bottom of the glass? If so that glass is actually for a 1992-present M-250R2 light.

Somebody has painted it as the PC socket and the latch both have gray overspray on them. I also forgot to mention, This also came with a Westy refractor instead of the correct GE. I had a GE refractor I got from eBay a while back that I stuck in it . The Westy just didn't look right in it ! Truthfully, I've heard bad things about the aluminum wound ballasts before .

Hmm I wonder if this was from a collector, as the paint looks like the correct match. Seems a little too perfect of a match for a regular person lol.

Or maybe the utility/town painted it ? Grove City painted all their poles and lights on Stringtown rd and painted everything a really, really dark brown ! The painters even painted the P/C 's but amazingly didn't paint the P/C window !
