How do your neighbors like the WideLite? They're a nice flood, but heavy as heck.

Your mission - should you choose to accept it - is to save unique and rare HID lighting before it's all scrapped.

Actually, they use it sometimes when they have bonfires/ parties to light the field !

And heavy is an understatement ! The freaking thing weighs a TON , LITERALLY ! I put it on the pole from the garage roof in 5 pieces due to the weight !

I can only imagine...I've never installed one of these, and probably never will.

Looks like the pole the wide-lite is on is blocking the window?

Awesome setup!

Thanks ! When I get them restored, I have 2 400w wide-lites that will replace the round flood , Plus I'm thinking of remote ballasting one of the "small" wide-lites so I can run a 1KW BT-37 MH in one and leave the other stock 400w MV

LG member "Parrot" has 8 of these IIRC. All are 250w HPS except one which is 400w MV. The MV one has the fins.

NAH, the pole does a little, but no one is getting in or out of that window anyway (not without a torch anyway!) there's a bunch of steel on that window !

I'd like to get one of those RAB mini shoeboxes and convert it to 50w mercury vapor. They never show up on Ebay or Craigslist, though.

Many years ago, I had the opportunity to pick up four 400W, MH/MV 5-tap WideLite flood luminaires at Boeing Surplus in Kent, WA (now closed). I didn't do it 'cause I was in school at the time and money was tight...wish I had now...oh well.

There is one on eBay right now for $29.89 with free shipping https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rab-Area-Light-Junior-Wall-Mount-Area-Light-Outdoor-Lighting-White-DAMAGED/323071038145?hash=item4b3888d2c1:g:Jt4AAOSwZ3Baggap:sc:FedExHomeDelivery!43123!US!-1 It says it's damaged but it looks like it's just the PC broken off !

They are really pretty nice, they seem to made very well and have all Stainless hardware

I kick myself everyday for it but I could have bought 2 pallets of the Area light Jr's in ass't wattages and lamp types for next to nothing! A local "crap" store had an "Internet auction" section and there were TONS of these and other RAB products!! I bought 3 total, a 35w hps, a 50w hps, and a 100w psmh for $22 each, brand new in the box !! I should have made them an offer to buy them all !

LOL I've tried that. A couple of my coworkers are cool and save lights for me that they take down. Usually just generic wallpacks or whatever but they're good to use on side jobs or whatever lol. Or convert to LED and keep the ballast. A coworker recently saved me over 50 F54T5/HO tubes from a retrofit he did. Sure, they're just T5s but I do have two strips I've been looking to get lamps for so it works out. Don't need 56 of them though LOL. I could let the two strips run 24/7 for the rest of my life and MAYBE burn through half of them. They're used but seem to only have light to moderate hours.

Yeah they do pack a punch, but they have rather poor maintained lumens. Worse than any other fluorescent lamp I believe. They run so friggin hot it's no wonder lol.

For fixtures mounted to the house I have a glare bomb 70w psmh light lighting the deck and a 100w hps flood light for the yard, which has a par38 halogen spot lamp next to it, aimed at the deck stairs. Lights most of the backyard. The two street lights get the rest. And then some.
