The Osram DSX-T, is the best white HPS lamp on the market. It have even better light quality and stability than the Japanese Iwasaki SDX (Which most people considering it as the best sodium based light source availabe). The primary reason is the absence of mercury inside the arctube + the dedicated electronic ballast.
This make this lamp unique among HID lamps in the fact, that the light colour remains the same during lamp life (The Iwasaki SDX, still have some colour shifting during life).
Despite this, the lamp was a commercial failure, because of the very high initial cost + Osram wrong promotion focus, which was primery on the feature of the dual colour temperature (2800K and 3000K) and dimming (80W and 50W), despite this lamp had the potential to be a very strong competitor to the japanese Iwasaki SDX, in terms of colour quality and stability over the japanese lamp, because of the absence of color shift and mercury.
