Columbus now has a 3rd ReStore ! Like the other 2 lots of overpriced crap ! The only difference is THIS one is in a nicer neighborhood . Anyways , the only HID they had was 2 of these Lithonia 100w HPS wallpacks NIB for $85 each ! UH, NO !!!!!!!!

The rest of the lighting section was nothing special , Tons of "A" style LED bulbs along with some LED BR-30 floods and a bunch of Satco & Feit incandescents

I'd maybe get those for 1/10 of that price.

That looks like the original price tag rather than ReStore's. Are you sure they intended to charge the full retail price?

Yeah HD Supply was an electrical distributor. Their name changed to Anixter.

Well, you can ask how much they want, perhaps after removing that tag . Not only is it too high for ReStore, it's a misleading starting point given that the value of HID luminaires has declined over the past several years ago.

That's an idea . Besides , it seems to be standard practice here for ReStore customers to simply remove something from the box and take it to the counter and say "how much, there's no price" knowing they'll be given a much lower price than the item originally was.

Yep, I've found a few porcelain sockets that I was interested in, but the boxes were empty. Probably because of the price tag being more than the standard 50 cents for electrical items.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

Sometimes if they have several of something (such as lamps) that are kind of overpriced I'll try to find one that doesn't have a price tag specifically so I can do that.

I've found LOTS of empty boxes at my ReStores ! The 3 GE 400w HPS ballasts I bought sat on the shelf for months cause they were priced at $75 EACH ! When I went last Oct. they were just sitting in different locations on different shelves with no boxes and no prices . I asked and the guy said $2 ea. !

Restore pricing is so inconsistent IMO. I once found a couple of identical 70w HPS lamps for sale at the same Restore but priced differently.

Last time i was at my local restore, they had a 2x2 fluorescent troffer for 200$ (i think it was the most expensive item in the store).

Those Lithonia wallpacks aren't even worth $10 retail in my book! Complete junk...and one has to be careful not to cut themselves on the reflector! This is from personal experience.

I've been "bit" a time or 2 when working on those 6-lamp T-8 highbays . Those also have razor blades for reflectors !!!

I had a Caster floodlight leave a decently sized cut on my hand when trying to use the latch on it.

No one wants to build a quality luminaire anymore. It's all about profits.

Agreed. I've had a few close calls with thin razor sharp sheet metal in some newer luminaires especially lower end one, be it HID or fluorescent. Cheap computer cases are also sometimes razor sharp if you run your hand across the wrong spot.

That is not a ReStore price tag at all. If there is no price on it, someone forgot to put one on it. Take it to the counter and say that it didn't have a price on it. Do not mention the supply outlet price tag. They will throw out an offer of what they think it is worth.

Most of the employees at my ReStore knows me from both buying and donating, and a lot of the little small stuff I buy like outlets and switches, they just give it to me for free.

I collect exit signs, preferably vintage ones.

I also have a little bit of a thing for light bulbs, too. Of course, hoarding them due to the incandescent bulb ban.

Around ten years ago, the staff at some of the Restores used to just give me a good price for the entire lot if I brought a lot of random lighting related items to the cashier. They seemed to have been more strict with pricing and haggling in more recent years though.

The ones here seem to change their policy from time to time but there used to be a time where you could only haggle if an item has been sitting out on the floor for at least a month. I'm not sure what the current policy is now. They do however sometimes run sales on things like lighting and electrical and they're tax exempt so I factor that into their pricing too.

Mine have both pricing and item quality that's all over the map ! They SAY they reasearch the value of the items but I think more often than not they just pull a price tag out of a hat !!!!

Yeah, I saw those, this reminded me of them. I thought about getting one of the 70W wallpacks because they're only $4.99 and I don't have a MH fixture yet.
