this light was at a customer's house as you can see it has filled partially with water. It will be quite a show when someone flicks the switch inside the house.

If that house's electrical wiring and panel are done correctly, there will be no show but just a breaker that trips.

Gimme a discharge lamp and a humming ballast Grin

Maybe only the water will start to boil.

Yes! Because of the water is not grounded and the rain water have more resistance than the tungsten filament, and the water will work as insulator for the air.

It would actually be fun to see what happens. I'd bet you'd boil water. The resistance in that water is high enough that you probably won't see any big "bang" or trip a breaker. The electrolysis will slowly work away inside and be kind of interesting.

There are air humidifier which work like this. They have to electrodes connected to mains voltage and the water between them starts to boil.

Yes! Because of the water is not grounded and the rain water have more resistance than the tungsten filament, and the water will work as insulator for the air.

EDIT: Now I can see that the water don't covered the filament; the filament will burns out normally and the water will start to boil, at least some bubbles because of the electrolisis. Will be fun to see what happen if someone turn on the light.

I want to reply this, will be fun (and dangerous, and I'll need to sacrificate one of my incandescents).

That's nothing. If you really want to see water boil in a light bulb, see here

Judging by experience. The water will either bubble or do nothing at all.
