Never seen an installation like this before. 3 separate single phase vacuum switches, usually a 3phase gang operated switch is used. All 3 were made by ABB.

These are becoming more and more common.

Collector of any streetlight type, preferably HID.
Lights I own: Line Material Unistyle 250, AEL Autobahn ATBS- 20w.
Power Company: Eversource
One of few members from the Northeastern US
Im proud to say my town is still HID!
Westinghouse Lifeguard Disease is nothing to fear. Im proud to have it!

Really!? Probably because it's easier to replace 1 switch that's bad instead of an entire 3phase gang switch.

They probably use the same mentality as they do with transformers, bank 3 since its easier to replace 1 small unit instead of 1 large.

Yeah that and in the case of these switches if there's trouble on only 1 line only that switch will act. The other 2 won't be affected and a lot more people won't lose their lights.
