In the 30's to 60's, REA Co-ops would put metal letters that spelled out REA CO-OP on every pole in their territory. In 2005 I ran across an old creosote pole in the Mississippi delta that still had a 40's 3KVA transformer hanging on it, brown insulators, steel cross arm braces, and copper solid wires. It was like going back into time.
