Cool Green & Daylight Deluxe

Cool Green & Daylight Deluxe

Daylight Deluxe, particularly the latest Sylvania F40DX from Versailles, appear greenish next to every other variety of daylight I've compared them to. As you can see, they are not as green as cool green, but they're not far from it.

Have you compared these to any other brand (GE, Philips, etc.) yet?

Power provider: Southern California Edison (SCE)

-Date decoder of some US lamps 1960-present.
-Switch and receptacle collector.
-I'll save what I can! Smiley

Just gorgeous! Still after a small lamp in CG!

We do not have to agree on anything to be kind to one another. The ability to be civil is available to everyone on earth, for free.

What is the purpose of cool green color?

Too many things are secret. Only open information can really preserve old technology.

I like fluorescent and other conventional lighting and old electronic equipment. Today's things are not made to last.

Cool green was intended for office work where it would keep the workers more alert. I believe it also claimed to be easier on the eyes when reading.

My grandmother used to have a makeup mirror with two F8T5 daylight lamps on either side. On the bottom, there was a slider switch to change the colour of the lamps. There was daylight (clear filter, lamp's true colour), office (green filter), evening (purplish filter) and a fourth one I don't remember (maybe a pinkish filter). I never understood why the office setting was green until I learned why here on LG.

Yeah, I think it also was used in a lot of drafting rooms back in the day. The cool green lamps seem to be fairly rare nowadays. I was lucky to score a few 3' ones at the Restore a few years ago.

Interesting tidbit about those makeup mirrors with the F8T5s on both sides. I remember seeing one in a hotel room when I was younger but I didn't catch that the office setting was green.

I bought some of the same lamps as you.

I have them alongside modern Philips Daylight Deluxe. Compared to the photo here, it's very interesting how green those Sylvania Daylight Deluxe look, as my Philips look pure white compared to Cool Green. I am actually disappointed that my Philips don't have the blue color I was hoping for, they seem pure white.

I need to try and compare them. In my experience the Philips definitely look blue, but not as blue as GE.
