These lamps operate at very high loadings, so a cautionary should be taken, when operating them bare. I don't know if the outer absorbs the dangerous UV radiation. I also don't think it is actually operates at full performance, if you used a regular MH gear and not a specific MSR gear.

I lives in Israel, which is a 230-240V, 50hz country.
