Thanks, the ballast I used was almost the same size as the 310 ballast so i was able to mount it exactly the same way, just had to drill 1 new hole in each bracket !
I will at some point use another ballast as this is SO LOUD ! You can hear this sucker from space !

Is the ballast securely mounted? If it is a little loose it’ll buzz more. But yeah, can be just a loud ballast too.

Definitely tight, if I remember correctly one of these ballasts (I got 5- 1000w hi-bays from work ) was rather loud !
I don't typically like to change lights from the're original configuration, but being 480v, it was useless to me! (saved the original gear anyway!)

I have one of these too, where it was originally 400W HPS (no ceramic spacers) with a 240V ballast. I replaced it with a 5-tap 1000W/M47 Advance ballast so I could run MV or MH lamps.

Your mission - should you choose to except it - is to save unique and rare HID lighting before it's all scrapped.

Maybe try varnish to quiet the ballast. I haven't tried this spray type yet but it's rated class F (155 deg C), so should be suitable for cobra head ballast.
