Drop light with CFL

Drop light with CFL

I don't use this one often and this is not the best type of lamp to use in a fixture like this, but it works and I haven't broken it yet. Lamp is a 20w Lights of America, 2700K but very yellow-looking.

Wow, I haven't seen one of those LOA spirals in years! I used to have some when I was younger. They are very yellow indeed.

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

I remember those original LOA spirals myself, don't really see those anymore! I have a 25w one laying around someplace.

I have a 25w version of that LOA lamp, it has a few hours on it but it still works.

Old lighting is, and will always be, the best lighting.

They did seem to last a good long time, relatively speaking. I think their larger size allowed more robust components which didn't overheat as much, they very much predated the miniaturized spirals when all of a sudden boom they were everywhere overnight it seemed.

This is an application (drop lamp) that is ideal for LED bulbs. I have used drop-lamps for decades, broken many many incans and CFLs. Switched to LED, no more broken lamps

Yeah, being non-filament, and plastic not glass...
