I was trying to find a photo of a night highway scene from the Pixar movie "Cars" and this is all I could come up with. It was so cool to see this highway lit with clear mercury light, just like the 70's/early 80's. And note the lone HPS on the on-ramp!

that was a Cool Scene...did you also notice the Streetlights in Radiator Springs? i remember them being Teardrops i thought they looked like HPS but they could have been incandescent.

Personally i think that all Lamp Bans are idiotic,the idea of telling us we cant use this lamp type just cause its less efficent is highly communist in nature...really what good is it going to do?

I still prefer the way streetlights looked back when they were MV compared to HPS.

Colored Fluorescent's such as F40T12 Red or  Green or Blue are awesome...
