Its frustrating to find these at a decent price until of course Webster electric had 3.5 cases in stock 100 bucks apiece! I'm sell a pair to john who really needs them. I keeping 1 case and I let streetlight get the half case. Great day.

Yeah awesome score. The half case I got will be great to use in my T17 fixtures. I hope these particular lamps aren't plagued by the vacuum issues. Austin mentioned this era of T17s was known for the issues but they were hit or miss.

Did you try out that new photocell yet? Hopefully the postal a-holes didn't smash the box.

The 84 watt "energy saver" tubes actually seem to fire up better than the 90 watt version. I have several 84 watt T12 ones in use because the 90 watt ones lost vacuum or went mercury starved. Seems to be worst with the daylight tubes for some reason. These will be great to get me motivated to get these aggravating lights going again! No more of those damn reset type starters either!

I have 38 of these watt misers and so far they work below 60 degrees even if the box says not to!

Next stop gate T17!

Don't we all? I can't believe there seem to be none in existence anymore. I wonder how many 100 watt T17s were made?

Hundreds of thousands if not millions of the 100watters were made, The sad part about T-17 fluorescent bulbs is there were fun to smash - That’s my opinion,
I’m sure there were plenty of them up into the 1960s,

No one ever imagined they would ever be collectors items,

Memorex Telex did post some pictures of hundreds of vintage T-17 fluorescent light fixtures and bulbs in an old wooden building dating back to the 1940s picture taken in 2007 after the picture was taken the owner passed away, This I believe was in Florida- I talked to a guy that worked at a recycle center in the area back then and he remembers cases and cases of those T-17 bulbs coming in to his facility- He told me they had them for up to 6 months due to the fact they did not have the proper equipment to shred them as the diameter was to wide - They finely
Got rid of them - I was sick at my stomach when He told me this - He was sick when I told him how much he could have gotten for them , He said the bulbs had brass bases
😠😥

@vintagefluorescent That's awful! Cases and cases of brass cap T17s destroyed. Basically the holy grail of fluorescent lighting shredded.

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

That sucks ! unfortunately that is usually what happens when we die, the stuff that we held dear is deemed trash by our relatives that don't see or care about it's significance or historical/monetary value and thrown away without a care !

All we can do at this point is hope that some T-17 brass end cappers will show up on eBay at some point in time & Yes I believe it will happen - When it does they are going to be expensive,

Wouldn’t it be nice to find a 3 foot 2 bulb fixture with the original brass end cappers F60T17 I believe:) It could happen ,

When it is my time to go, I want my collection shared among my lighting friends here. None of my local friends really care about it and my family sure does not. I have no offspring so it needs to go to collectors. Y'all better have some big trucks!

Oh man. That is so awful these 1940s T17 tubes got destroyed because the owner passed away! Getting emotional!

May all the great lighting technologies have their place in history.

Well we don't want 25 1940s Westinghouse 2x90/100 industrial fixtures and (hopefully) working tubes for them to go to waste either. I need to make up a will and put this site's address, my username and password in it with instructions to notify the group upon my passing. I am sure many of y'all will outlive me and can enjoy my crap after I am gone. Just about every fluorescent light in use on my farm is chain hung and plugged into a receptacle like in the old days. I am going to set up a shipping container to store as much of the rest of the stuff as possible since the old shed is not wasp/bee and mouse proof. Gonna take a while to organize a few thousand tubes regardless.
