I don't think the probe-start MH would be reliable at only 230V OCV.
My guess would be, then the starting probe is used to suffice with rather low voltage HPS ignitors (e.g. 70W HPS are rated for 1.5..2.5kV ignitor, while 70W MH, running on otherwise the same ballast, for 3.5..5kV pulses)

No more selfballasted c***

Theoretically, probestart MH lamps that can be operated on european ballasts (Ie.. the Venture Euro lamp), can only be operated with MV ballasts. MH lamps that designed to be operated on a HPS ballasts, should be pulse start.
Including an ignition means in MH lamps (Integral ignitors, starting probes etc...), limites them to operate with a CWA or a MV ballast.

Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I only working with the European date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

I lives in Israel, which is a 230-240V, 50hz country.
