Someone in my neighbourhood was tossing out 2x4 2lamp troffers. Loaded both into my bike trailer to take home.
Removed the ballasts and tested them and both work excellent and solid. They are rapid start and run in series like magnetic, the starter lamp is the red side.
Ballasts are heavy and potted but are electronic

Scored two sylvania octrons in the load also.
The troffers will be kept and restored

Hmm interesting ballasts. They're electronic but wire up just like a good old magnetic rapid start ballast. Must be an early version of the programmed start ballasts used now?

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.

Can anyone tell me more about the kingtec brand ? I'd like to know how they are as a whole. Googling seems to suggest they are a trucking air conditioning/refrigeration company now. Ebay seems to be full of these ballasts if anyone wants one for their own

One of my fixtures has a electronic ballast that starts up and runs like a magnetic rapid start ballast.

Old lighting is, and will always be, the best lighting.

How do these start up?

Don't be fooLED, T8 IS the worst thing to do to a magnetic T12 fixture.

They have the classic rapid start theme and also run the lamps in series. If you have to go T8, this is how to do it

Or use 1 of those ultrasave ballasts!

yes, the ultrasaves are great for the fixtures with slim ballast compartments.
