So this ballast was pulled from this Day-Brite shoplight because it would not work and nearly killed one of the lamps i used to test it.

I was experimenting with this ballast since i was going to trash it, but i found out if i connect the lamp across one of the red and blue wires and hook a starter between them, then i could use this ballast as a single lamp preheat ballast for F40T12's without severly overdriving the lamp/ballast. A bit more experimenting and i found that i could also use F32T8's, but not low mecury F32T8's.

Dude that's so awesome! This is actually good to know as well, that way it doesn't go to waste. How does the ballast sound by the way? Does it have the same volume it did before it could no longer support lamp life of two?

I'm not sure how loud the ballast was before (since i found it "dead") but it runs nearly silent.

One other thing i found from experamenting is that this ballast will sometimes act like a instant start ballast with some lamps.

Old lighting is, and will always be, the best lighting.
