Sylvania switched to this design from what I've heard around 1988 (even though I didn't see them in the wild 'til around 1990). Yeah, those ED23.5 lamps from Sylvania could be set on one's pinky finger!

I saw those but they are so frickin expensive. I'm guessing you are the one who made the offer that got accepted?

Also, up until last year Sylvania still made their 150w> lamps with this envelope. Sadly they switched over to the boring dimple-less ED shape.

Any machine is a smoke machine if you operate it wrong enough.
