Cool! These don't run off mains voltage unless you're lighting it up with the kitchen lighter.

I think they are low iron content glass to allow ultraviolet to pass through the envelope instead of more expensive quartz tube

This lamp is not made of quartz, look at its stem. For its low-wattage TUV lamps (such as the one shown here) Philips uses its #160 mixed alkali glass with a low iron content. While this particular material transmits mercury's resonant line at 253.7 nm, it is opaque to the shorter 184.9 nm line and so these TUV lamps do not produce ozone.

That's interesting, Max Even glass have nomenclature for different material to create for specific application.
