Maybe they wanted to disguise it because the sky is blue?

Yep you can have it custom painted in any colour you like:

"Standard colours: beige RAL 1013, red RAL 3004,
blue RAL 5003, green RAL 6005, grey RAL 7035,
black RAL 9005."
(from the schreder oynx PDF btw)

Thanks again, Beta 5!
I'm surprised that not many street lanterns are coloured in fact.

Not very happy with the current mess on this site.

Nice. The blue looks really good (and think how awesome this would be with a blue MH lamp in it )

What's with that little springy wire thing on the top? communications antenna for 'smart' lanterns? or just something to keep birds off it?

Yep, it's there to prevent seagulls (and other birds, I'm not a racist) from using it as a toilet.
They tried a sign, threatened with a fine but seagulls ignored all that. Now this seems to work.

No problem, its nice to be able to practice my lantern identification skills, and help people out with identifying lanterns

Yeah, it would make things more interesting if they were coloured, a dark green Industria 2000, on a dark green post, in a park/woodlands would suit nicely

It wouldn't deter the gulls around here, they'd just **** on it from a great height

It'll be all right in the end, and if it isn't all right, it isn't the end Love

It looks like it have antennae.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.
