That makes sense. Are the two lamps independenly geared so one stays on if the other fails..?

I really like this! This is very similar to the Micromark 2x9w fittings installed in both my aunts bathrooms. Moved in in 2007 and they have never ever had to be changed! I might have a picture somewhere on here, i shall look

At least in the 1990s there was a 2D version of many fixtures. There were even more power options, most commons 16W and 28W.

These 9 W lamps use common ballast.

I like these. We have similar fixtures in the US: here is one of two I have that use 13w PL lamps. I am using only one lamp per fixture.

If I had one of these, I'd fit another ballast so one lamp would still function if the other fails.

I have this lantern with electronic ballast and motion detector. Lamp base is 2G7. The model is AVR254.294E. 4 (after the dot) means it is with a motion detector and E means it is with electronic ballast.
