I saw yesterday nite on Craigslist for free scrap I called a few times and texted but no awsnser so a few hours later I texted again he responded with they were sold! So i said can you give me his number I only want one I can hope. So no awsnser. It was killing me so I texted back and said geeze they might get scraped at least can I ask. Finally he just gave me his number. Turns out he was planning one cutting ballasts open for the copper core ( stupid) and hopefully make a buck so I offer a hundred and he doesn't have to go thru all that nonsense. So he accepted and man I'm happy I saved another classic t12 from the scrapper!

Scrappers can be a real Dumb ASS. The ballast
May contain a pound or two of copper that paying
2.50 a pound and That amount of Tin/Shred (iron)
He will only get $2.50-$ 3.00. Scraping somthing
Vintage for under 10 bucks a fixture. And that scrapper prolly hammer ballast to expose him self risk of PCBs. Now i hope that scrapper learns a lession in valuing his time. And not every
dam thing is scrap metal.

@ VHO i would of propose 25 bucks a fixture first
If that donr work 40-50’bucks tops

No LED gadgets, spins too slowly.  Gotta  love preheat and MV. let the lights keep my meter spinning.

I like the style of these You did good saving these, perhaps you can have the scrapper guy become a minion and anytime he comes upon some vintage stuff like this, he can ring you up, you get the lights he can make a little beer money

Nice save!! I saw that listing last night too, but I'm an hour away from where they were posted and no time to get there this week. Did you get the one that was hanging from the ceiling too? I liked the look of that one as well. I have saved a few other T12 bulbs and lights that people were giving away on Craigslist. I love T12 lights and I am determined to save what I can.

I got that other hanging one to BLUESVAN but it's a homedepot cheapo with a t12 accupro ballast very thin metal. Where do you live sounds like your very close to me I'm in Boylston. Thinking of selling it on let go maybe get my 20 bucks back at least its still new anyways. Im glad I saved these that I knew that guy who swooped them up was going to scrap and for what possibly 20 bucks he thought 100 but no way those ballasts you only get 2 bucks tops each. Doesn't matter I would of paid more to save these one of a kind lights I'm thinking of installing them in my garage right away. I love that the cover is one peice porcelain coated with the cool flat screw knob. But unfortunately power grooves won t fit unless you change the sockets.

I am in Gardner, MA. Hoping to find more lights and bulbs for the new house and garage over time. I like older lights and it seems like a lot of people are getting rid of their older lights for LED. Not me, I'm sticking with T12s.

Really nice old beast there!
No way would I (as in me personally) pay $100 for any used lights though.

Colored Fluorescent's such as F40T12 Red or  Green or Blue are awesome...

I know but I couldn't let these get scraped. Good luck getting these at the box store

Nice! I always liked older Daybrite fixtures. $100 for four is ok but I personally don't have the room for so many 8 foot fixtures. I have 3 (two strip, one turret) and I'm running out of room if I got more.

I have 0 room now it don't take much with 8' lights. Thinking of replacing the 1971-westing house fixtures I currently have up. I like them and they fit power grooves but these have a nicer style with the center vchannel and the cool little bars that screw on the one peice turret hood but dont fit power grooves possibly I might change the sockets with taller ones but they have to be horizontal rdc if I do for powergrooves to face the proper way. But for now I may just stick with HO I think they will be fine with these great GE ballasts!

As someone getting into scrap, it kills me when scrappers kill T12 fixtures.
