My dad used to have a similar (E27/220V/500W) home photography lamp made by Tesla Czechoslovakia (IIRC). The base was similar but not so robust, I think.

Very early model. If the date code is with a small g38, then I believe it is from September 1928. 8 means 1928 (or could be 1938), g means Berlin Warsaw Bridge factory, and 3 means September.

I have one similar to this but is Clear with Frosted Crown see HERE, mine as date code f19 which I am guessing is for July 1935.

Colin, you can refer to the lists on my site to date this, as April 1939 (f = Warsaw Bridge factory 2nd Quarter, 1=April, 9=1939 or possibly 1949).
