It looks like the kind of lighting you'd see in a gas station not that long ago. Those angles were the thing, along with a couple other styles.

It has a sortof retro look, like 1970s, not the 1950s incandescents[sic].

This fixture looks a little bit to an old Dutch streetlight from the 60/70ties. It have the same triangle shape. http://www.geocities.com/lantaarnpalen_zijn_mooi/onbekend_9.html

Looks similar to the pyramid cobraheads that Frog and I saw while we were driving around. Maybe slightly different, not including that this one has a FCO lens while the ones we saw had weird pyramid refractors.

A parking lot nearby has these, 3 on a pole, they are all MV and only 2 are left working. They have the "pyramid" lenses like Daveman described. Did anyone ever figure out what they are?

That's definitely what these are, at least the ones I know of! It's nice to clear that up, they had been stumping me for years.

Thank you! I have seen several of these around Gothenburg in older industrial areas and have never been able to figure out what they are.
