it doesnt look like Painted...more like sunlight reflecting off the fixtures bare surface.

Personally i think that all Lamp Bans are idiotic,the idea of telling us we cant use this lamp type just cause its less efficent is highly communist in nature...really what good is it going to do?

Also, I have 2 of these same lights (113, 175w MV) except mine have doors.

Any machine is a smoke machine if you operate it wrong enough.

I miss when everything was MV as well...especially the neighborhood streetlights!
Been a long time since they were changed out to HPS

Colored Fluorescent's such as F40T12 Red or  Green or Blue are awesome...

I don't think that's the etch. Looks more like some sort of dirt mark. AFAIK no BT lamps other than Chinese knockoffs have side etches. This lamp looks too old to be a knockoff.
