Forgotten Gumball

It was used to light some stairs but I guess they forgot about it and judging by how old it is, probably for a while, since Toronto got rid of their incandescent streetlights in the 90s.

It was a Line Material Spherolite Jr but the lamp and optics are long gone, it's disconnected and there's no PC on the pole so it might have been group switched.

I know of an AE/ITT Model 25 with a glareshield and a GE M-400A FCO that still stand after the rest stop they were at was torn down.

Current: US 120v 60hz
Power provider: Southern California Edison (SCE)

Yeah, I wonder how long ago did they last service it lol. There's another one of these in Richmond Hill that used to light a stretch of road that long since got bypassed but I guess they never removed the arm and light.

There's an abandoned rest stop here that got demolished but they left the HPS parking lot lights intact.

How long ago was that place demolished? I went back to 2007 in streetview and it was overgrown and empty even back then. Also, does Toronto still have those metal halide gumballs?

It was closed in 2005 or 2006 and according to here it was demolished in 2010 or so.

Yeah Toronto still has a ton of those Cooper URB gumballs, some got spot replaced with King Luminaire teardrops but for the most place they're still there and still run PSMH lamps.

IIRC it was the same model as this one in my collection. I think the abandoned one has been out of service for 25+ years but it's mounted pretty high up.

Are the other gumballs in the background still there, if so are they incandescent or HID ?

I love the up-swept arms on them !!

They're still there. They're either 70 or 100w PSMH and were installed in the mid 90s. They replaced incandescent gumballs on the same arms. Yeah I'm glad they kept the arms and a similar looking enough luminaire when they switched to HID.
