Inside of the Vulkan Köln lantern

Inside of the Vulkan Köln lantern

Here is the inside of my latest addition to my collection:
The gear of the Vulkan Köln Mushromm lantern.
Everything is in a quite good condition and all lamps and ballasts are working well :-)
The lantern itself is not cleaned yet...

Yep,it is really great and very bright.
I love to see those ones lit.
Sadly about 500 pieces are replaced now.
By Schreder Piano LED.
For me this has nothing in common with good streetlighting

That is very sad, but in a few years I think there will only be a few lanterns with Fluorescent lamps left

But the Schreder Piano is one of the better LED lanterns you can get today I think.
The quality of those ones semms to be quite good. Last year also about 400 were installed to replace lamps with MV (mainly Hellux "Hutschachtel").

Very nice, it does look like a super-sized CFL from a distance.

Because those ones who are replaced now, were installed about 30 - 40 years ago, some of the broken lanterns have been replaced by new ones. Those have CFL lamps with 2G11 lamp socket and 24 Watt. Also quite interesting and not so boring in comparison to the new LED-lamps.

Only Philips lamps were used as I could see, when I talked to the workers who replaced them.
