In a compartment car made by Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk Halberstadt in the eighties. The fluorescent luminaire (a Spezialleuchtenbau Wurzen model for railway cars with 24 V DC power supply) contains also a small incandescent lamp that goes on when the main lamp is switched off.

Often there are two incandescent bulbs, one is the night light controlled by the switch in the compartment and the second one is the emergency bulb controlled by systems in the main electrical cabinet of the car and can be lit even when fluorescent is on.
