My friend received an used projector as gift, with mark "lamp broken".
Actually, this lamp light up, but ballast detect anomaly and shutdown.
When i opened enclosing, i found this surprise: lamp bulged!

That is how those Ultra High Pressure lamps EOL.. good thing it had not exploded as that can destroy other parts of the projector

The lamp explodes when the Mercury is vaporised and pressure is up, so the fan would immediately blow the vapors out. I dont know how much could condense back before escaping the projector. So basically, ventilate the room if you heard a bang from the projector, and dont worry too much

That's result of inproper cooling down process. Pull out plug when running etc...
