2 Sylvania 58w 840 has gone EOL after 4 and a half years of 24/7 on my lamp life tests. They were installed by me in December 2013 and are now going EOL so they have done a good life i think? Starters have become stuck from flashing and the starters are Philips S10's witch i quite rare to see one of those stick as they usually brake the cathodes at lamp EOL.

I think that the reason why the glow starters tends to stuck with EOL krypton T8 is simply because T12, 15W and 30W argon T8 and short T5, holds their discharge at EOL, so the starter actually restriking them, so this discharge (When the lamp flickers 50hz) is what breaks the bad filament, but the krypton T8 refuses to hold an arc, so the situation here at EOL, is similar to SON-E/I lamps: The starter can't start an arc in the lamp at all, so it get stuck.

Yep, all today produced starters are getting very fast "stuck" , normally after one day already. The old starters sometimes up to one or two weeks flashing. Yep, a normal life span for the tube! Is it running with a capacitor in series or is it just inductive?? Life span does matter when series capacitor is used or not. What I like on Sylvania tubes is the blackening. One end is really dark black with a white stripe near cathode guard and other end almost invisible black.

The capacitor don't affect lamp life on series choke. It only reduces the current drawn from the electrical infrastructure.

I agree, these are from 1995 and did mega hours in an old mill my dad worked at (now demolished) before i rescued them. You can still see the dusty oil stains still on the lamp holders from the machines.
