Before Hamilton, (Scotland), they were made at Turnhout, (Belgium).....not sure when the transfer was though. The plant is in Wellhall Road on the Southern side...three big rooves, you can't miss it..it is the last place outside China where SOX is still made...it is also the last UK lamp plant still operating out of hundreds.

Manufactured articles should be made to be used, not made to be sold!

Nice find. And nice and cheap too. Yep sadly its closing down in november. Last orders were 1st July 2019 so if it wasnt ordered by that date it wont be made. They are just forfilling peoples orders now. Once theyve made them, thats it, devistating really. Hopefully they will still be available online for many years yet but i fear the prices online will sky rocket when philips shut their doors.

Im after a 2019 Philips 55w too my plan is to collect one for each year from 1990 til 2019. So far i have every lamp from 2006-2018 just missing 2019 and a load from 1990-2005

Awesome find on those SOX!

Colored Fluorescent's such as F40T12 Red or  Green or Blue are awesome...

The SOX 18 lamps are a great find. They're the hardest to find for a reasonable price around here now. I've gotten a couple of them from Restore before too.

That's sad to hear Hamilton's days are numbered...just one or two months left...
