Awesome! This is my goal for 55 watt lamps. Lotta money required for that tho.

Yeah unfortunately gotta have deep pockets for this. Kicking myself because before july a local distributor was selling the 55w lamps for about $45. I should have dived right in

Nice! You've gotten quite a bit of 18w lamps now. I considered getting a case but the cost of the lamps was a bit much and I already have 5 SOX 18 lamps anyway. I would have gotten one shipped close to the border and picked up the lamps myself though to save on shipping.

It was expensive, especially considering the Cad to Usd but I caved anyway as I have two wallpacks that take these so thats 7 lamps per fixture. I plan to keep one of the lamps out of service to have as a working display, probably one of the white carton ones or the belgium made one.

I'm hoping a bit that I managed to score more 18w lamps at the Restore and then maybe see if I can get more 55w lamps. The conversion from CAD to USD also put me off buying a full case too. I still only have 1 18w SOX fixture so I think 5 lamps is a good number to have.

Needless to say I'll buy any SOX lamp I see at Restore for a reasonable price.

I'm nervous about the lifespan of my lamps. I know the norelco branded brown capped lamps will probably last past their rated life (?) but I'm unsure about the more modern red capped lamps I have.

I have two modern lamps with the blue and black carton. Then I have two very modern ones from the 2010's

I noticed the new SOX-18E lamps don't have dimples in the tube. The picture on the box shows two dimples though. I have one older lamp that does have two dimples like the one in the picture on those brown boxes though. The picture on that white box looks like it is showing the lamp has 6 dimples! However one is blocked by "18 watt".

The only one I have has dimples, but only two, one each side quite near the bend. I've not seen a Philips lamp without them so far.

I heard they used some of the Philips Made for Osram Arc tubes in these, which will explain the no dimples. The 18w i got a week or so ago has the Osram Arc tube as Philips in Hamilton used to make Arc tubes for Osram. Then place the Osram Arc tubes in the Philips outer glass like THIS ONE HERE

I believe the arc tubes that Philips made for Osram were of osrams standard and were a much better quality lamp. So they may turn out to be 4-5 year lamps if the IR coat does not turn black within a year

The lamp i linked to, the Osram. I have had that lamp on nightly (dusk-Dawn) service for 2 years and it still looks clear!

There is some £18.99 Osram Supersox ones on there but its pot luck what youll get. Youll either get an Osram, GEC (which i got) or a GE! I didnt expect the GEC as it wasnt mentioned! I ordered another a few weeks later and got a GE! So i was not complaining! All good rare lamps!

Hmm, only one I can see other than the one I had is one for £20.99 but with £9.99 postage. There's also someone trying to flog an Osram one for £65 which I think is a bit steep

Mine was originally up for £39.99. I was about to offer him £35 for it when I got an offer out of the blue for £30, it's definitely GEC in the photo, anyway.
