Grabbed another Circline floor lamp!

Grabbed another Circline floor lamp!

It's the one on the left; the right one is the one I already had. Found it on Facebook Marketplace for $15, and it even came with lamps (a 1955 GE White Circline and a Sylvania inside frost 3-way)! The shade had a huge crack in it, though, so I threw it out and replaced it with a similar one that I had. My goal is to find another shade like the one on the right--I love that style. Both of these lamps are marked "Mitchell Mfg. Co." on the bottom of the base and contain GE hockey puck ballasts.

Thanks! I actually just found and bought a shade like the one on the right on eBay. In fact, it includes the whole center lampholder assembly, so I'll end up with a spare 3-way mogul lampholder (complete with switch knob) AND a mogul-to-medium adapter, which I don't have yet. If all goes as planned, next weekend I'll have two almost-matching 1940s fluorescent floor lamps. These are one of my favorite lighting items to collect, in case you hadn't realized it. I'm still hoping to find other versions, like the one with two F14T12 linear lamps instead of a Circline.

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

Oh my flaming heck, these really put my mum's halogen floor lantern to utter shame. I'd grab one of these and chuck out the blessed halogen floor lantern.

I will give LEDisease a taste of my shoe

Very nice ! Are these manual preheat ?

They WERE both manual preheat, and the left one still is. I converted the right one to glowbottle preheat because a couple of the wires pulled out of the old switch when I was rewiring the lamp. I'll probably get a NOS switch on eBay and convert it back to manual so they match.

They look awesome Nick! Soft white and daylight, now you can set the mood by turning on one or the other. I really like those milk glass shades, I now have a table lamp and a floor lamp with such a shade

I see that now. Interesting how the camera picks up on light colors that I know appear white IRL. The one on the left looks like it's half turquoise and half yellow, thus creating pure white light. It's warmer than the cool white, which looks fully turquoise on the right.

Either of these would make great reading lamps, since cooler temperature light that's not from a screen reduces eyestrain while reading.

These do indeed make very good reading lights. I also like using them on the lowest setting with the Circline off to create a nice ambiance (and I know any floor lamp can do that, but these look cooler while doing it).

Beautiful lamps Nick There are mogul to medium socket adapters so you can use easier-to-find e26 base 3-way bulbs. I've been seeing some LED 3-way bulbs that would do well for your uses here.

I haven't seen a mogul-to-medium adapter that preserves the 3-way functionality. If you know of one, let me know! Currently I have a regular mogul-to-medium adapter in one of these running a 60W-equivalent LED lamp.

That’s interesting, I didn’t know they remove the 3 way function. I’ll keep an eye out for a mogul to medium 3-way adapter, especially since I’ll begin a new job at a well known “orange hardware store” soon.
