Completed Marquee Sign Project

Completed Marquee Sign Project

Click to view full size image

Made this for my daughter using a large galvanized sheet steel decorative letter from Hobby Lobby. I used porcelain sign-type sockets and various chassis punch tools to mount them, the switch, and the cord. The lamps (except one) are vintage Sylvania 7.5W S11 from an estate auction. Amazing warm low-efficiency glow that lights up the room.

Looks very nice!! I have an round hole punch ( 1 3/8 inch ) for cutting the hole size to fit those type of sockets.

Long live the great old 20th century quality in electrical & lighting products!

Thanks everyone! This was a fun project. When I won the box of bulbs at an auction (and a bunch of other stuff I didn't want), I came up with this as a way to put them to practical use. I also got one red and one orange 7.5W bulb in the lot, a few clear 11W sign bulbs, and a few 15W frosted bulbs. All are Sylvania, packaging looks like 1960s-1970s.
