I have no idea where this came from or if it works.

If it turns on and off by the reset/test buttons then it still provides GFCI protection. We used to use these for the garage door openers in new houses (as a GFCI plug cannot be used on the ceiling, since it's not easily accessible to test/reset) so we would put one of these next to the light switch for the garage lights. However, my boss found that it's the same amount of money to just install an extra GFCI plug on the wall in place of this and then he can charge for an extra plug.

Just did a quick test and it appears to work.

Old lighting is, and will always be, the best lighting.

Awesome! Always thought these things were cool. They make them for other voltages too (VERY expensive) but It's usually just as expensive as just using a GFCI breaker.

This appears to be from the late 2000s.

Don't be fooLED, T8 IS the worst thing to do to a magnetic T12 fixture.

I have the Cooper version of this, Mine came from a Restore without a box but it looked like it had never been used.

Yeah, it reminds me of the smartlock GFCIs that I installed back in 2007/2008 in the bathrooms at home, replacing the original non GFCI protected outlets.
