At home the mains voltage was 220 V in the 90s.

Where are you..? I think it was historically 220V in mainland Europe; here it was always around 240V, although our voltage is usually around 245V, we're literally across the street from a substation, here is the view from our kitchen window, complete with GEC Z5670 post top lantern

I am in France, the voltage was 220V before the 2000s, now it is 230 V

That's why all SL sold in France are 220 V
