This is KWANG MYUNG BALLAST Cat No. D-1402-TP, a high power factor, rapid start, ballast for two F40T12 fluorescent lamps.

This unit is used daily since 1994 or 1995, averaging at least four hours and two starts per day. I estimate its accumulated time operating so far, is 40000 to 60000 hours. I think its present set of lamps is its third. (It was relamped twice, at least.)

I asked Google to search for its maker, its answer is two candidates:

http://www.kmec.co.kr/eng/CO/co_03.asp
KwangMyung Electric Co., Ltd. in Seoul, South Korea

http://engkpelec.iamplus.biz/page.php?Main=1&sub=3
KP ELECTRIC co. Ltd. in Incheon, South Korea (nee Kwang Myung Electric co. , nee Kwang Myung core co.)

Wow Korean made ballast.

I believe that I found the information at http://www.jobkorea.co.kr/Recruit/Co_Read/C/kmec1234

Try to find this using hangul: ㈜광명전기

I think this might be 305th day of 1999 vintage

I see you have been here for a while, but welcome to the Lighting Gallery web site

Pretty, please no more Chinese failure.

I did not realise that its Korea country of origin is not common. Thank you for pointing it out. I am sure this specimen was made during 1995 or before; not newer than 1995, not at 1999. I do not know what its stamps mean.

Neat/interesting find. Can't ever remember coming across a Korea made ballast myself.

The way the label on this is divided up, it has an Advance look to it.

Colored Fluorescent's such as F40T12 Red or  Green or Blue are awesome...

At first glance I thought this was a universal with a really faded label

You may be right, musictomyeyes. There is another possibility of date stamp, November 1_, 1987

Pretty, please no more Chinese failure.

I would say more like Universal, given the label design.
