Electripak “High Power Sodium” Security Lite

Electripak “High Power Sodium” Security Lite

Click to view full size image

This is an Electripak 70w high pressure sodium security light. The date code is faded somewhat so it’s hard to tell when it was manufactured. It looks like it says 1992 which should be about the right time period. They also made a 100w Mercury Vapor version of this light which I have 2 of them in my collection. This is actually the first HPS version I have seen however, but I was aware that they were made. I also thought it was interesting that they call it High Power Sodium on the box.

I like the packaging on these older lights more than the fixtures sometimes, good stuff.

I like the packaging as well, it has a sense of character and stands out. I also think the High Power Sodium title is unique.

I think I have seen one of these on a church nearby, and I wasn't sure what brand it was, but this looks like it.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

I could very well be the same kind. I only know of a couple of them around here, but they’re the MV version. Do you know if it still works?

Installed some of these back in the day...never thought that they'd be a collectible light...always thought they were junk.

Your mission - should you choose to except it - is to save unique and rare HID lighting before it's all scrapped.

Yeah they were considered the budget option back then. Compared to today’s fixtures, they hold up really well. I have a MV one that was installed at my grandads farm for over 20 years and still works perfectly.

Very true, and agree that they are 1000% better than what is made today!
