No, this is illusion that the central metal rod connects two contacts This design is like the filament in projection bulbs -- the part of filament at the end is winded on the short rod on the contact.
But it is very convincing illusion

Yooo... how come this kind of electrode filament construction didn't really become a thing...? How come this didn't work out?
Wouldn't thicker filament construction like this mean much longer life, even with this metallic rod deep within the filament?

As I know this lamp is for special purpose, for aviation. This is too expensive for domestic use I think.
