My high school commons/cafeteria was lit with the lamps on the right in indirect troffers. They would almost always crack at EOL. Whatever ballasts they used were decent because only a couple fixtures remained out after the janitors changed lamps. I can't say the same about the T5HO that were installed in the addition, though.

Pride and quality workmanship should lie behind manufacturing, not greed.

Yeah 9/10 times these these will crack off at EOL when removed, the the ballast is a special type for F40T5s and instant start(never seen one fail yet), fortunatly the bases bases rarely break off, since we group re lamp it's only a problem with the fixtures that never got surveyed to get lamps lamps changed

I think the ballasts in the fixtures in high school were some kind of electronic rapid start judging by the way they turned on. I don't know for sure, though, and I don't know the manufacturer. They would run lamps to EOL, so they removed lots of cracked lamps!

Alights, I do have a fixture for these lamps if you would be interested. Its a track lighting fixture, but it does not have the sockets for the lamps or the ballast. I was saving the sockets for a future project if i ever get my hands on some of these lamps and finding a magnetic ballast. The original ballast was a full size T12 ballast, has has the nice and shiny reflector with the clips for the lamps.

Love dresses, make-up and just crazy about fluorescent lighting!!  Keep those T12's and magnetic ballasts alive!!
