Do you know the age? Over here, I think they stopped using them by 1960.

No idea about the age. The wooden parts must be replaced like every 10 or 20 years at maximum.
It might not have been modernised yet possibly thanks to the fact, that this is a quite short local railway or the place is somewhere "in between" so it might not have been included.

What I find strange is the absence of light signals. Someone closed in a car with a loud techno music playing may not hear the bell and remain stuck on the crossing. On the other hand, this is close to the station so trains probably go slow and also the barriers won't fall down too quickly.

Not a misoLEDist...
