Westinghouse 500 watt incandescent lamp

Here we have a Westinghouse as seen extended service light bulb. It's 500 watts, probably used for Street lighting or for indoor high-power incandescent fixtures. I have 4 of these lamps. All NOS and all work.

When I was in elementary school the classrooms were lit with 6 of these. 3 light switches running each row of 2. I remember seeing some of them with very black necks but it was very rare to see one burn out.

Keep government out of the lighting industry.

Very uncommon to see high wattage frosted lamps like this in the UK - is the case the same in the US? Highest I have is 300W.

Nice lamp! High wattage frosted lamps are fairly common here. They used to be popular up to 1500 watts (clear and inside frost), though now 1000 watt is the highest wattage that's readily available.

They used to be popular for outdoor floodlighting.
