I found this 3.5 hours away in nj. I drove Down in my reliable Corolla paid 40 bucks brought home found out the starter sockets were soldered for RS so I spent about a day to reconfigure the wiring with 3 new PH ballasts and 6 new starter sockets I installed on the side. I had trouble with some of the new ballasts and just realized the wiring was a little off very frustrating but a learning experience. I didn't give up but I cant imagine wiring PH for a living.

I see the classic Mainlighter end banding!

Preheat and T-12 fluorescents forever! Down with LED's and instant start T-8 fluorescents.

That's a real nice fixture. 3.5 hours is a long ways away but I'm glad you got it. I've seen a few decent fixtures on my craigslist but I can never seem to justify going over an hour away. Always regret not going after them for a while.

Most of the good ones are always far away it's a given. This needed a complete overhaul too seeing it was RS and only deserved to be a preheat. Most people in there right mind would go t8 or led but no I'm the only nut who dedicated days on this one fixture just to see the flickering of 6 lamps at once!

Beautiful light! If it was a qualified electrician, I doubt they would have done any soldering. My brother's old house had wiring from hell...the j-boxes had the romex soldered together with tape. In fact, I got shocked touching the garage door and furnace ducts after he moved in. Needless to say, I fixed the shock hazards until a qualified electrician came to fix everything.

If the ends come apart maybe it couls be desolderesd. I have desoldering gun, but also solder wick works too.

Glad its preheat now, but was looking forward to the lampholders having the starters, especially some white plastic units that you can see the whole container glow.

I was going to use the existing starters and probably should of but 1 starter hole the brass feelers were missing so put a hole on the side for 1. Then realized they weren't going to stay in because the (a hole) qualified electrician ruined the starter holders snapped off the plastic. I have 6 replacement starter sockets anyways I took the rough way out I should of jammed a screw or nail to hold it in there. But done for now. ( until I need these sockets)
