This is my closet light when I moved in is been bugging me. It's a f32t8 accu pro fixture with f32 alto 2 lamps. Takes a while to warm up with ends bright a middle purple very annoying to me I'm only in the closet for 5 minutes tops. They also did a hack job with no romex fasteners and no face plate clips to lock on cover. Anyways this light is going to a new home for a exchange of a f96t12HO fixture

I hate wall-mounted fluorescent strips but in closets like these but unless the closet is deeper than 2ft it's a code violation to have it on the ceiling. However, this fixture doesn't have tube guards so that's also a NEC violation in addition to the other things you listed like no connector.

And LOL how the frig did that mass of wires pass over the home inspector when you bought the house?

I know we pointed out when he was here I told him that's one thing ill take care of. they had a cover partially over the hole with one screw the wire is no in the wall but passes thu with a switch. It's hacky but I see there point

T12/ t17 there's a reason they made heavy magnetic ballasts

Yeah a lot of houses have poor (or no) closet lighting so at least an effort was made. Must be bright as heck in your closet now with the HO! And the RS tubes will last longer (and be brighter) than the IS.
