AWESOME! Since you have this in a recessed can I can safely install them in some track lights? I wasn't sure how hot they get.

Thank you! It just says not to use them in totally enclosed fixtures.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. How the heck can anyone like LED when metal halide is so much more fun!

Exactly! By the way, I tested this lamp for around 45 minutes and it was too hot to comfortably touch. Also, keep in mind that these are very directional lamps.

The directional part is fine as that's one reason I wanted to try them. I just want to make sure that I don't overheat the track fixture. At least the lamp will not be enclosed.

Nice, the SBMH lamps were pretty much designed to be track light retrofits so you're probably safe using them in a track light. That is unless you happen to have a full enclosed track light.

BTW depending on the style of track you have you might able to find MH track fixtures for it. I have a few fixtures like that. They use standard screw based or pin based CMH lamps.

Check that out... it fit in that recessed fixture easily. Awesome man...
Do you have more of these fixtures or is this the only one? If you have multiple of them, that would be an awesome start up
show each time you flip the switch...

Interests:
1. Motorcycles, cars, Women, and Lighting (especially fluorescent)
2. Weightlifting/staying extremely athletic
3. Severe Thunderstorms of all kinds
4. Food and drinks. So gimme them bbq ribs
Lighting has ALWAYS been a passion of mine. I consider everyone on here to be a friend

I have more light fixtures just like that, but this is my only self ballasted metal hailde lamp.
