"Night Angel" LED Night Light/Outlet Plate

"Night Angel" LED Night Light/Outlet Plate

Click to view full size image

I bought one of these for the outlet in my dining room after I almost split my head open at 3 A.M. after tripping over one of the cats who was sleeping in the middle of the floor (she has NEVER slept there before or since!)
It works nicely and doesn't take up outlet space like a standard night light. Even though it's not terribly bright , it throws all available light at the floor where it's needed instead of everywhere like a std. night light. It gets it's power from 2 contact tabs that press against the screw terminals on the outlet.

Nice! We’ve put in a few of these in the renovated lake house! Perfect for hallways and navigating safely at night.

Nice! Time to replace that Leviton 5320-I though. Broken piece at the bottom! Doesn't affect safety. (Side note: If you actually replace it, can you save it for me? Thanks, lol.)

Good quality things are awesome. Cheaply made things are not.

That's probably from someone plugging in a grounded cord and it getting stepped on, which breaks off the bottom of the grounding hole.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

Will do ! eventually everything in this house will be replaced electrically . This place is a mis-mash of styles and colors of both switches and outlets. This place has both std and Decora switches and receptacles with the std's being white, brown and ivory ! I plan on using all std style with everything inside being ivory/beige and all exterior and in both garages being brown . I HATE THE WHITE STUFF ! It shows to much dirt ! BTW the broken bottom was like that when I bought this place. I once had someone tell me that these are supposed to be installed with the ground pin on the top as that supposedly will stop damage to both the plug and the receptacle. ?

I also think that Walmart has a knockoff of the Night Angel, and they have a USB charger version of this. I'll get a pic when I get a chance.

Save the Cooper OVWs!! Don't them down by crap LED fixtures!!!

When I tripped over the cat in the dark , I bounced off the doorway to the kitchen which spun me around and fell backwards into the corner of one of the lower kitchen cabinets ! I had a huge knot on the back of my head along with a small cut !

Of course the cat walks up and meows at me as if to say "why are you laying on the floor dad ?"

The reason why the ground pin should be at the top is because it disconnects first when you unplug it, making it safer since your hand might slip into the hot and neutral from the top. If you don't mind, I'd like all the old stuff you replace (others can ask too if they'd like). I have a lot, but I don't like seeing things thrown into the trash if they're still good!

I've had outlets where the little bottom piece on the ground hole gets broken like that..
..think there might still be one in the garage, but others got replaced & thrown away.

I have a 1984 brown Leviton receptacle that has a missing piece at the bottom. I BS'ed my dad into letting me replace it (Almost 4 years ago) because of that, and I still have it to this day.

A good question to ask though, why were you lying on the floor when you should have been feeding that hungry kitty..?

Pity it's an LED though

Do they look like the one I found at the ReStore back in August?

Yep!

I have a few more of them that were previously caked in paint. All but one are completely intact. One, however, has both the top AND bottom broken out like that!

I plan to replace them, but maybe his son will. His son replaced the outdoor lights and relamped most of the incandescent can lights there.

@ lightinglover8902 : The "Night Angel" is supposedly a knockoff of the Snap Power version .

I might be getting some of the snap power ones at some point soon as they also have the child resistant ones available. Thanks for the mention.

@wide-lite 1000, What wiring devices do you have? I might be interested too.

Honestly , I've never actually paid any attention to any of it ! As I told fluorescentlover40 , going forward, as I remove any of the old stuff I'll hang onto it until I find out if anyone is interested in it. It appears that nothing really special (to me anyways) is in here, seems to mostly be basic stuff from the 80's-90's with MAYBE a little 70's here and there. There are NO snap switches , 2 prong outlets or "special" looking plates .

This Leviton 5320-I could be anywhere from the 1970s all the way up until 1993 or 1994. Seems older since you mentioned that it was already like this when you moved in.
