SBMV in HPS dedicated fixtures

SBMV in HPS dedicated fixtures

Click to view full size image

Weird case of SL-100 fixtures (made in Poland on the license of Siteco) with SBMV lamps instead of HPS, located on the platform of SKM (Tricity S-Bahn equivalent on which in formative years ex S-Bahn Berlin EMUs were used) station GdaƄsk Stocznia. I remember those fixtures when they had HPS lamps as intended. Why this change happened? I'm wondering that myself as it makes little sense. Maybe the company stockpiled too many SBMV lamps and they are using them here as they struggle to find any other meaningful use.

You're right as the HPS lamps were probably much brighter at lower wattage than the SBMV's !

Also: SBMV lamps aren't to be used horizontally, because this can short their life or cause them to cycle: https://www.lighting-gallery.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-157101

I've made hand held photos last year but even with high ISO they were still quite dark and very grainy so I've decided to repeat them with the camera on a tripod. That was the only way to make good pictures like the one here.

Sometimes I see the MV lamps in the HPS lanterns. But not yet the SBMV, I think.

I've seen sometimes SBMV in place of MV and MV instead of HPS but this case here is really unusual.
