Programmed start ballast in modern indoor 2xF58T8 fluorescent fixture

Programmed start ballast in modern indoor 2xF58T8 fluorescent fixture

These fixtures are being installed in every social building here in Lithuania. From school to bureaus, to stores to governor's offices.
These fixtures are equipped with OSRAM German made programmed start electronic ballasts that preheats the ends first and slowly eases the tubes into light. This kind of starting really prolongs the tubes life because the sputtering of the emiter is far greatly reduced when starting wa/ preheated ends. Compared to IS or Instart Start garbage ballasts, when they start they bombard the cold cathdoes with thousands of volts and this sudden kick of voltage sputters the emitter in large quantities every time the tube is started cold aka they reduce the life of good quality tubes to the level of s****y Chinese tubes. The tubes in these fixtures are German made real Osram Lumilux F58T8 840 tubes. I wonder how a F65T12 tube would act on such a ballast. I plan to buy one of such ballasts and use vintage t12 tubes to see how various tubes start on it.

You can order these fixtures from the internet. They are not only limited to the EU market, if you'd dig deep enough, you'll definitely find some sourcer in the west that carries these.

New lighting technologies is a pity fest everywhere you look. From LEDs that last only for two months, to a never-ending global starvation of t8 fluorescent tubes.
We shall reinforce ourselves with good old full mercury t12s and HIDs made to surpass one's life, and give them all the middle finger ;
