I nodded this from 70W HPS to 18W LPS. Never again am I ever going to mod these again, they are a pain in the backside to work on.

You need to run this lamp base up for a few hours as the sodium has gone to the electrode area. If it is continuously run in this position it will kill it it will fracture the glass

That was quick lol. Yeah running it base up will allow it to clear from the electride area and go back into the bend where it should be. As these lamps are pretty rare when the lamp is hot dont move it around

You got many 18w sox lamps? I have a shoe box full of them, they are getting rare even over here in england now, and sellers on Ebay are wanting silly money for them like £55 A lamp! Yet you can get the larger 135w and 180w lamps cheaper in some cases.

Nice conversion by the way, you cant beat SOX! Absolute winner

Nice work. I did recently modify a streetlight from SON-T 250W to SOX 35W for a project.

Very nice. I’m going to post the results soon. Its rather a projector than a street light which was originally designed for illuminating pedestrian crossings but now I am using it for theater projects.

Wow that electrode looks close to EOL. Are SOX lamps okay to be run sideways ?

Some sodium ran into the electrode

The angle should be fine
