In California LED bulbs must be 90 CRI. So Feit makes the high CRI Enhance line of LED bulbs and they became the first to market this in a frosted glass filament form. They introduced the same glass line for the other 49 states, but with a CRI of only 80. Clearly, you can see they came from two different factories in China. The California version has the black etch on the neck, for example.

Why would the Government of a state care of the CRI was 85 or 95? Most plebs can't tell the difference anyhow so why bother waste time legislating it through state parliment...havn't they got more important issues to deal with? (Like homeless people?)

Manufactured articles should be made to be used, not made to be sold!

All the bulb bans seem weirdly worded. I assume maybe to make LED more appealing so they ban the halogens?

The standards are because politicians in California are paranoid people will reject LEDs like they did with CFLs. Crazy.

May all the great lighting technologies have their place in history.

why do they care what light bulbs people want to use? I mean I would probably choose an LED bulb over say, an incandescent, but people should have their own choices.

HomeBrewLamps where you live is way too cold for me sorry guy.

Mercury fixtures are actually legal, new ballasts only became illegal under the feds.

Same, there are some fixtures I have where a coated LED filament would look nice and a clear one would be too glary.

I never did find out why they stopped selling mercury ballasts here in Canada. I believe they weren't banned since you can still buy brand new 175w mercury yardlights but the ballasts are impossible to find now.
